I realize I haven't posted here and in many places for a very long time. I'm taking a nice, deep breath and reposting an email I just sent to HellenicPagan as to why.

I'm doing this because right now, it's been made clear to me that some things about being said about what I supposedly said in relation to this that aren't true. And those who know me need to know the truth.

The email in question, possible trigger warnings ahead...Collapse )

I'm sorry I stayed quiet for so long but was afraid of drama fallout and retribution. I've had all of one appallingly negative response so far and he's been banned from the list. I don't get my culture nor people who claim to be human and don't act like it.

If you want to know why not to vote for Brown, shadesong says it all here:

He's also flamingly anti-gay marriage.

Vote for Coakley, and do NOT believe the exit polls. Remember that the Republicans loooove doing spin in the media. This is NOT the time to be apathetic. Go out and VOTE VOTE VOTE

At long last...

Supposedly it wasn't set to ship until Jan 5th, but that's from the publisher's site. The distributor is apparently sending them. I have my copy already:

Yes, I poured the champagne. Yes, I jumped up and down in my living room and scared the poor kitties. Yes, I plan to cuddle this book as I sleep tonight and dream sweet, sweet author dreams.

I'm in the process of making steampunk jewelry: chokers, earrings, pendants.

Here's an example of chokers, earrings, and pendant I made:

Edit: just added four pendants I created

Images behind cutCollapse )

I'm strongly considering selling pieces like this online and locally. Chokers would have to be a custom thing since the ribbon would have to fit the neck, but can give examples online of the work and people can ask for them. Each would be unique due to the parts involved.

Of course I plan to keep a few pieces for myself to wear. :)

Naturally the thing to do next is show off the pieces and poll people as to what they'd think would be a reasonable cost for the item. I'm thinking the chokers could go from anywhere between $10-20 depending on the complexity.

I'm still upset over Prop 8. Still a lot of absentee ballots to count and it looks close. I think only prayer can save California from bigotry ruling the day.

It's shameful. Replace "same-sex" with "interracial" and people will scream bigotry. People go on and on about "civil unions" but it's like the drinking fountains all over again for us in the GLBT community: "separate but equal". Bigotry is still bigotry, and the people who signed that bill and voted for it should be ashamed of themselves. Hatred is NOT a family nor sacred value or ideal.

I predict this much: we're back to the 1960s all over again, except with race now it's sexual orientation. Obama has the potential to become the next JFK--and hopefully not assassinated as he was. We also have the makings and potential of a HUGE social revolution.

Fasten your seat belts and keep your eyes on the horizon. Now is not the time to become either apathetic, "tuned out", or "burnt out on politics". Now is the time for some real change.

Pray to your favorite god or goddess of choice that we can see this through on ALL horizons: black, gay, white, straight, bisexual, Hispanic, transgendered, Asian, queer, male, female--you name it.

Every time I hear the following, I want to strangle the person who says it:

"I'm voting for x third party candidate because my vote doesn't count; I live in MA/NY/insert blue state here"

"I'm not voting because my vote doesn't count."

If everyone thought that, the tides would turn VERY quickly. YES, your vote counts. Stop being a sheep, get to the voting booths, and vote your conscience. No excuses. No "I live in MA." No "My vote doesn't count."

Every vote counts, every person has a chance to sway the tides. It all adds up in the end. Apathy is not an excuse. Where you live is not an excuse.

Go, do it, exercise your WILL to make a difference.

Thank you.

Meep and Squee are looking at the polls and thinking, "Wow, I hope that people aren't going to become complacent and not vote Obama because he's just going to win 'no matter what'."

To emphasize this, they batted at Mommy's hands and feet repeatedly until I gave in and said, "Ok, you cuties, I'll repost the donation request."

Tuesday is a short time away, and I don't want the country to go into the hands of someone who wants to pass a federal law banning gay marriage. That's right; that's what McCain stands for.

Every time I've heard Obama speak, I've felt something I haven't felt regarding this country in a long, long time: hope. For the first time in years, I will be going to the polls and voting FOR a candidate as opposed to against.

Please--even $5 would help and go a long way towards helping Obama to put more ads into the states we originally thought were long shots: Louisiana, Arizona, and Georgia are now showing at near ties or in favor of Obama by a small margin.

This is a seriously historical election, folks. Please consider donating to the cause, even by small amounts.

I thank everyone who has donated already or plans to donate. So do Meep and Squee. They say, "Mrrr!"

Obama is working to stamp out voter fraud--which is the last thing this country needs, to have another rigged election come Nov 4.

Please consider donating if you haven't already. Even $5 would help, and would be one more step towards getting the right man in office--and keeping the wrong man out.

I know some of you are still undecided, and some of you are disgusted with both candidates. I frankly think that Obama is the most qualified of the two, and if I had to choose, I'd pick Obama.

Consider what the Republicans have done to our country in the past eight years: the 9/11 aftermath, the Patriot Act, the mess with the handling of Katrina, our economy...and think about the potential of that continuing--and worsening--in the next eight years.

I know that this plea may fall on deaf ears, and that's fine. I don't expect you to think that Obama will solve all of our problems and is the perfect candidate--he's not. But he has a great chance at getting this country a few rungs up from where it is right now, and for that reason I'm voting for him.

DW: Thank tiemcock it's Friday

Meep and Squee thank you!

Thanks to those of you who have donated $220 already. Damn. I would've been thrilled to get $5 off the bat, to be honest.

I just read a news article about Palin referring to Obama and Clinton as "Sambo" and "the bitch" respectively in a restaurant in Alaska. Those around her laughed.

You may think, "Well, that's just the GOP VP nominee...what matters is the president." But a president is also reflected by his choice of running mate, and McCain is getting there in years. Suppose he has a heart attack and dies in office. We then have the nightmare of a woman who refers to a black man as "Sambo" in office.

Her clothing purchases totalling $150k may also be in violation of the McCain/Feingold Law. Imagine nominating a president who breaks the very laws he puts forth. Would you trust him with the economy? With education? With women's health issues?

Here's a video of him on YouTube mocking women's health issues. Wanna trust him with your birth control? With your right to wisely choose right and wrong for your own body? Your own reproductive health? He's against feminists too. He's very upset that we're not automatically voting for his ticket because he chose Palin as his VP.

Say what you will about Obama. No, he's not perfect. Yes, he's made a few bloopers on the campaign trail so far. But I think that whatever flaws he may have pale in comparison to the McCain/Palin ticket.

In short...thanks for the donations given thus far. If you've donated already and can't anymore, that's AWESOME. Pat yourself on the back for contributing to the cause. Consider these dollars to be your vote.

Reasons why I support Obama

Which describes how I'm feeling all the time:: determineddetermined
- Palin backs gay marriage ban in the Constitution. And she's batshit. Here's a great article describing just how batshit.

- Both Palin and McCain want to strike down Roe vs Wade. I am anti-abortion but pro-choice. I am VERY in support of the mother's health. I've seen videos of McCain MOCKING women's health. Yes, mocking. We want this man as president? I don't think so.

- Obama's tax plan would give cuts to everyone who makes under $250k. Even me in my senior IT whatever will get a cut--not as much as many of you, but a small amount. But to be frank, if you guys all got cuts but I didn't, I will still support that because something needs to be done about the economy.

- The Republicans have been invaded by the neo-conservatives and the Religious Right. Right now there are prayer circles being circulated online to what amounts to MAGICKALLY ATTACKING OBAMA. These same people will claim that they're trying to turn prayer against witchcraft, but these prayers have far more evil in them than ANY "black magick" spell I've seen.

I am deeply afraid for this nation. Obama's very, very brave speech on race made me hopeful for the first time in almost a decade that this place has the chance to turn itself around.

Once upon a time, I would've voted for McCain. But he's done a complete 180 and is now kissing the very asses he swore to oppose back in 2000.

And that is why I say...please click on this link and support Obama: $5, $ doesn't matter. Every bit counts.

I've already contributed $135 to his campaign. I NEVER do that, especially in such amounts.

The outcome of this campaign has honestly never mattered to me more. I have NEVER contributed to any campaign before, ever. This year is the first time I've donated a significant portion of funds.

In any event, I've set up a personal page. I really do think that donations will help. Every bit counts. Think of it as another way to vote for the cause.

I know some of you vote Republican, some of you don't care, and some of you will be offended by this post. I make no apologies, but only ask that you respect my beliefs and I'll respect yours.

If you're pro-Obama, please consider clicking on the link and donating. Time is running out, and I do NOT want another stolen election. Please help!

$5, even $10--consider it a small price to pay to stop us from having a McCain/Palin administration.

Dear friends,

So many people have asked me about what I know about Sarah Palin in the last

Basically, Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton have only 2 things in common:
their gender and their good looks. :)

You have my permission to forward this to your friends/email contacts with
my name and email address attached, but please do not post it on any websites,
as there are too many kooks out there . . .

Please don't tell me that you don't know what those roll call numbers refer to, what they mean, or ask me anything about them. Google it. Research it. Empower yourself as a supposedly educated voter. If I have to engage in one more battle of "wits" with a dead-from-the-neck-up person who informs me that my giving him a list of links of facts to read for himself doesn't constitute as answering anything as to why people shouldn't vote for her or McCain, I'm seriously going to strangle the so-called intelligentia that passes for the voting populace. Or vote Saxon, whichever you prefer.

I'm really tired of making this post.

For all y'all who thought, "Well, I'll do something when it becomes official," it has become official, and it is time to get off your fucking ass:

The Bush administration officially proposes conscience rule for doctors who don't want to do their fucking jobs.

This does not just apply to doctors -- surgeons, anesthesiologists, etc. -- but to anyone involved. Nurses, equipment wranglers, the dude who monitors the machine that goes "bing!", anyone. Anyone could walk away at any time from a woman who is simply trying to live her life the way she thinks most wise.

Clinics that receive government funds would have to abide by this rule, and could not fire someone for not doing their job, even if they are the only person in a hundred miles who could do it. Even if it is the only abortion-providing facility in the state.

There are no provisions for assisting women who have been denied -- none. No statement that a doctor must help the woman find another doctor who will help her. No offers to help with transportation, should a woman need to go to a different city to get help. Nothing. We get nothing. We are their patients and we are not only being put behind our employees' consciences, we are being left with nothing as recourse.

"Nothing in the new regulation in any way changes a patient's right to any legal procedure," [Health and Human Services Secretary Michael Leavitt] said, noting that a patient could go to another provider.

No, you fucking idiot, it doesn't change my right to do it, but it is going to mean that thousands upon thousands of women are not going to be able to do it.

You don't have to make a thing illegal to make it impossible to fucking get, and that is the effect this is going to have. That should scare the shit out of every single one of you who values their ability to do as they wish with their bodies.

This is the rule. Not the draft, the actual rule that will go into effect if we do not act to stop it and act now.

The rule goes into effect in 30 days.

We have one month to stop this.

Do something.

Planned Parenthood is fighting this as hard as they can. Make a donation here.

Write to your legislator, telling them you oppose the rule, and asking them to fight it.

I checked my LJ today not to see who was boycotting versus not, but because I'm a fandom addict and the Ten Doctors comic was updated today.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for fandom. I just can't quit it. ~_~;;

What I gotta say appalls me is how many people got ANNOYED over the fact that people like me participated in the boycott.

You know what? When the War on Iraq began, I participated in classes on civil disobedience and attended a few rallys. Did it make a difference? Probably not. But you know what? I was exercising my rights. We don't get those elsewhere.

So, people, take a fucking page from Thelema already: Do what thou Wilt shall be the whole of the Law. If people wanted to not do the boycott and continue posting, GREAT. If it's your Will to do so. If people wanted to participate in the boycott, GREAT. If it's your Will to do so.

I can't believe how many people were WHINING that people chose not to post in their own fucking LJs. Holy shit, people. And talk about meta: whining about WHINING.

I've seen some divided times, but man, I've never seen BOTH sides get so incredibly highstrung before.

Read my lips: it's your own fucking LJ. Do what thou Wilt. And guess what? That means everyone else has the right to do the same, and they have the right to exercise their LJ as they see fit to express themselves. That's the whole point of having a fucking journal. And if choosing not to post in it for a full day is their choice of expression, SO BE IT.

Omgs. People. WTF.

shadesong also tells it like it is. Great, some of you intelligently communicated why you wouldn't participate. Kudos, I respect your opinion and even more your ability to communicate it without being a wiseass. No need to get nasty, snarky, or asshole-ish to those who did.

Superwoman has left the building

Sadly the people who need to read this the most are not on Livejournal. This is not just with one incident but several so don't think that one person inspired this--it would have to take much more than that to post something like this. Call it my time to vent regardless.

If one more person gives me shit for not responding to any emails, IMs, or inquiries or not being psychic enough to know that I'm supposed to know about something that they haven't bothered to even email or talk to me about, I'm going to staple a bagel to their face and remove it with a pitchfork a la Weird Al Yankovic.

Superwoman has left the building. I cannot deal with work, my employer, my book, KTO classes, publisher chats, write essays for various magickal orders, doctor's appts, and attend important social events AND be on the Internet 24/7 AND read all of your minds. I'm sorry. Sometime, I have to be, ya know, human. And I have to sleep. And I'm running more than a little low on that past few weeks. Patience too. Patience is also at an all-time premium. Combine that with entering my monthly PMS stage and I'm really not someone to be nagged about right now on anything. Take a number and a steaming cup of STFU.

Make that TWO glasses of alcohol for lunch. Oi theoi athanatoi.

Edit: Oh and yeah, PS, I haven't had a single weekend free to myself in over a month.
